One day Betsey found that her pet chicken, Carla, had lost all her feather. Carla was shivering from the cold. Betsey didn’t know what to do.

One day Betsey asked her dad, “May I have a farm animal for my very own?”

“Well,” said her dad. “Do you think that you’ll be able to take care of it by yourself?”

Timothy couldn’t fall asleep. He tried and tried but he just couldn’t sleep.

“Daddy,” he called.

When Dad appeared in the doorway, Timothy said, “I’m thirsty. How can I fall asleep when I’m thirsty?”

Dad went into the bathroom, filled a cup with water, and brought it back to Timothy.
