Gemma Matthews has always blames her imaginary friend, Lucy, whenever she’s in trouble. When Gemma and her mum move house, and Gemma has to start a new school, Gemma’s mum says Lucy has to go. The funny thing is, Lucy has other ideas!
Losing Lucy
‘It was Lucy’s idea,’ I said.
Mum looked at the mess. At the weekend, when we’d moved in, my new bedroom had been cream. Now two and a half walls were dripping in gloopy pink paint.
‘Gemma, what were you thinking?’ Mum’s voice had gone all quiet.
‘Lucy wanted to make it look the same as my old bedroom.’
Mum gasped. ‘Look at the carpet!’
‘Lucy spilt a bit,’ I said, ‘so we painted it all to match.’
‘You are not six anymore!’ said Mum, ‘I’ve had enough of Lucy. It’s time you started taking responsibility for your own actions.’
