Bored and frustrated, Lacie isn’t sure how she’ll fill up a sunny afternoon on her own, but following a chance encounter with a rabbit hole, she is suddenly transported to a place she will never forget.
Half Past Three
“Please, Elsie, I want to play with you now,” Lacie tugged at her older sister’s dress.
“Stop it,” Elsie snapped. “I have to call Sarah. Her boyfriend has dumped her and she’s really upset.”
“But…”
“But nothing. Tell you what, I’ll stop talking at half past three and then we’ll have a little party. Just us two.” She disappeared into her room and returned with a small alarm clock which she thrust into Lacie’s hands.

‘You love being out and about, don’t you, Bud?’ smiled Viv, turning from the passenger seat to her dog in the back of the car and stroking his head. Buddy looked out of the window, which was open just enough for the cool country breeze to tousle his glossy fur. Any wider, and the persistent Lakeland drizzle would have slowly, but surely drenched the inside of the car.
