The Confession – M E McMahon

1000 words General Fiction

Reverend Scott is called upon to hear the last confession of a condemned witch.  It will be a confession that he will long remember.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Reverend Scott stood in front of the cell and looked at the prisoner inside. He did not want to be here, he didn’t want to hear this woman’s confession. He, like the townspeople, feared the powers of the woman held captive within the weeping walls of the cell. But, it was his duty to come and he was not one to shirk his responsibilities. As the jailer unlocked the door and bade the Reverend to enter, the woman looked up and he saw the wounds that the torture the woman endured in silence had wrought. Her haunted eyes bore into him and he hesitated at the threshold.
